Black Inc. mourns the passing of Inga Clendinnen.
Clendinnen's writing was distinguished by its lucidity, wit and sharp intelligence. The author of several classic works, including a superb Quarterly Essay, she was a warm and encouraging presence in Australian intellectual life. She will be sorely missed.

Inga Clendinnen was a writer, academic and historian whose work on Aztec and Mayan cultures and the Holocaust has been praised around the world. Recently, she has also turned her attention to the historical relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
