Black Inc. is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Sales and Trade Marketing Manager to join our team.
Black Inc. is an award-winning independent Australian book publisher of quality non-fiction, fiction and poetry.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Sales and Trade Marketing Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Publishing Director, the successful candidate will develop and manage all sales and trade marketing for the list, with assistance from the Sales and Trade Marketing Coordinator.
The successful candidate will have a passion for storytelling and books, at least 3 years’ experience in sales in either publishing or bookselling and excellent organisation and communication skills. They will develop and implement trade marketing strategies, lead the sales team to maximise sales across the trade and work closely with booksellers and our distribution partners at Penguin Random House.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Foster and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders across trade sales, including head office buyers, Penguin Random House key account and sales teams and booksellers
- Direct manager of Sales and Trade Marketing Coordinator
- Devise and implement sales and trade marketing strategies for all Black Inc. titles to maximise the sales and readership of all Black Inc. titles through bookshops
- Oversee all sales materials and metadata associated with Black Inc.’s titles, with support from Sales and Trade Marketing Coordinator
- Manage, monitor and report on all trade sales activities, with support from Sales and Trade Marketing Coordinator
- Present to and liaise with Penguin Random House key account team and sales reps team
- Arrange and attend trade conferences
Key selection criteria:
- at least 3 years’ experience in sales from a publishing or book retail background
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
This is a permanent role based in Melbourne or interstate, either part-time with 4 days per week or full-time (negotiable). Black Inc. supports flexible working arrangements.
