For his forthcoming book, Dr. Knopfelmacher’s Long Cold War, Robert Manne is seeking reminiscences of Knopfelmacher.

Frank Knopfelmacher was the most politically prominent and colourful academic at the University of Melbourne from the 1960s through to the 1980s. Twice forced to flee his homeland, Czechoslovakia, shortly before World War II and in 1948, amongst the sole survivors of the Knopfelmacher family, he went on to become a passionate teacher and scholar in the fields of political philosophy and geopolitics, and a fervent Cold War cultural warrior.

A highly intelligent and controversial figure, Dr. Knopfelmacher was better known to Robert Manne as a personal mentor.
